In the rolled steel market, angle sections are always in high demand, owing to their versatility, practicality and affordability. Metal angles are in demand in construction, industry, engineering, agriculture and other areas of human activity. The intended use of rolled steel depends on the manufacturing technology of the steel products.

  • Manufacturing

    Production of Metal Angle

Mass production of rolled metal products is carried out in two ways:

    1. Hot rolling. Hot-rolled metal products are obtained at metallurgical rolling mills from continuously cast billets of square or rectangular cross-section, heated to the required temperature for rolling between the mill rolls under high pressure. During the hot deformation process, the metal angle takes the shape specified in the corresponding standard. The steel for producing hot-deformed rolled material is selected based on the required physical and mechanical properties of the product and its application (mild steel, low-alloy, carbon, stainless, etc.). Due to the high energy intensity of the technological process, the price of hot-rolled products per ton is relatively high, but justified by the quality, strength, and precision of the finished metal product.
    2. Cold rolling. The metal angle is produced by deforming steel strips on profile-rolling mills without prior heating and without altering the material structure under high temperature. In the cold-rolled L-shaped metal profile, the resulting angle between the flanges functions as a stiffening rib, which is particularly important for enterprises in the mechanical engineering industry.
  • Uses

    Areas of Application

The purpose of rolled metal products depends on the manufacturing technology:

    1. Cold-rolled metal profiles are usually bent with small thickness, so they are used for manufacturing parts and products that will not be subjected to heavy loads: household appliance components, frame and metal furniture, decorative interior elements (installation of arches, decorative and drywall panels, ducts, etc.).
    2. Hot-rolled thick-walled and strong metal profiles are used in civil and industrial construction (foundations and load-bearing structures of buildings and facilities), railway car manufacturing, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and other areas where reinforced metal profiles are required. These products are used for constructing monolithic buildings as rigid reinforcement, assembling metal structures and facilities as connecting elements, building bridges, highways, overpasses, fences, and other constructions with variable and permanent loads.
  • Advantages

    Advantages of Metal Angle

The L-shaped metal angle has several advantages:

    1. Affordable price per ton of metal products (additional savings available when ordering in bulk).
    2. Versatile profile, ideal for construction and assembly of metal structures.
    3. Easy mechanical processing (the product can be easily welded, cut, and drilled).
    4. High longitudinal and transverse strength of the metal product.
    5. Available in a range of lengths (from 4 to 12 meters).
  • How to choose

    How to Choose Correctly?

Before ordering a steel angle, it is important to know the marking and specifications of the product. It is denoted by three digits: the first two indicate the flange dimensions, and the third indicates the wall thickness in mm. Flange dimensions can range from 20 to 250 mm, and wall thickness up to 25 mm.

    Other factors to consider:

    1. Material of the product – typically, the angle is made of carbon steel. For use in aggressive environments, it is better to choose a profile made of stainless steel or low-alloy high-strength steel.
    2. Length of the angle – the metal profile can be purchased in standard, multiple, or custom lengths, with tolerances defined by GOST regulatory requirements.
    3. Type of flange – angles can be equal-flanged or unequal-flanged, depending on specific applications.
